Week 3 Day 1 Activity 1

DAY 1 A HEATED DEBATE
ACTIVITY 1 TOGS OR TRACKIES

New Zealand is a pretty lovely place to live, isn’t it? Apparently, New Zealand (NZ) is also a pretty lovely place to visit. In 2017 approximately 2-3 million people came to visit NZ as tourists. Some of them chose to come in the middle of our summer, while others braved it and came in the middle of winter! When do you think is the best time of year (season) to visit NZ?
If you wouldrlike some help making a decision, feel free to read the Go New Zealand website. It has lots of information about the seasons in NZ!
I, personally, encourage my friends and family from overseas to come and visit NZ in early spring. The weather is usually warm and dry and the tourist attractions, beaches and holiday spots are less busy than they are in the middle of summer.
On your blog, tell us what time of year you think is best for tourists for come and visit. Be sure to share at least three things that tourists could do while they were here in NZ.

I think the best time for people to visit my country would be summer time. The weather is nice and sunny and there are heaps of cool things to do. If it's really hot you can go for a drive to the beach and have a swim or go to the pools. They have cool as pools that my school goes to for trips its called jellico pools and it has a nice big pool outside with water slides for kids and adults too. If you come in the summer time you can even go up to the skytower it is really high up. You can go up and look down at our beautiful city and if your hungry you can eat at the restaurants there. The last place I would tell people to go see is the Museum because its free and you can learn lots of things about the New Zealand history and culture and theres heaps of interesting things there to do.

  1. Malo e lelei Jahrey,

Well done on completing another SLJ task, 'Togs or Trackies'. You have painted a great picture of what New Zealand is like in summer. I am sure any tourist who reads your post would love to come and visit our beautiful country. I agree with you that summer is the best time of year to visit our slice of paradise. I also love going swimming, especially in the sea or in a lake. My family and I, love going to a swimming hole called Dickies Flat which is about 1 hour and a half away from Auckland. To get there, you have to go for an adventure through the bush, over swing bridge, and then through a tunnel with glow worms. When you come out the other side it is like a natural playground. There are cliffs to jump off, tunnels to walk through, rapids to slide down, and areas to explore. This is one of many swimming areas in New Zealand. Have you come across a swimming hole like this before?

    Ma'u ha aho lelei,
    Megan :)
